Hinterland Studio doesn’t provide any in-game maps, but a community member by the name of Whiteberry has created the most detailed maps one could ask for in The Long Dark. **I play with version 1.30, so don't have any recent knowledge, but I'd be very surprised if this EVER gets randomized, because Hinterland. If you’ve spent much time in The Long Dark, you’ve more than likely searched for a detailed map of all the regions. If memory serves, an example of this is sticking through the cargo door of TWM Tail Section. *I am pretty sure the super big Limbs that require a Hatchet (most Limbs you can saw with a Hacksaw) don't respawn. After you've reached maximum respawn length on Interloper this is 50 days, you can almost set your watch (calendar) by this so there is no random factor built in for bears, at least.** Though this is for "normal" bears like you see in ML and PV, other bears are reputed to work differently.

(There are numerous exceptions, don't expect stuff you find in "odd" places to respawn, example: coal outside of a mine/cave, or sticks/branches inside of a mine/cave.) I believe respawn rates are affected by the experience mode you're playing (slower the harder your mode), and how long your run is - the longer it is, the longer your respawn rate, though at least on Interloper you reach the maximum fairly quickly, certainly by Day 100.Īnimals like wolves and deer seem to have a random factor thrown in, and they don't necessarily spawn at a set interval after you kill them, they kind of "move around." (Or maybe I just haven't ever figured out their pattern?)īears have a set spawn point (it's marked with some old bones like in the initial cave in Story Mode), and they will reappear pretty much to the day a set period after you kill them. Sticks, Branches, Coal, Stones, Wood Limbs*, and all animals respawn. I believe Birch Bark respawns, I know it used to but they might have altrered that when they added the ability to make Birch Bark Tea (?). Other things that don't respawn (though you might hope they do) include: Birch and Maple Saplings, Reishi Mushrooms, Rose Hips, Cattails, and Ravaged Carcasses.
